AB Sandvik Cormant, Sandviken, Sweden, (www.sandvik.com) says its new CoroCut MB (minibar) boring bars can cut internal grooves in holes to 10-mm (0.39370 in.) diameter. The tools are available with a range of insert widths from 0.7 mm (0.02756 in.) for circlip grooves, and other insert sizes are for shallow and deep grooves.

Inserts mount with a front screw that does not require removal of the toolholder from the machine turret to replace. The boring bars have internal cutting-fluid supply directed at the cutting edge via two nozzles for cooling and chip removal. The inserts are designed for all applications, especially steel and stainless steel operations. The company said it designed the CoroCut MB minibars to be combined with EasyFix clamping-system sleeves, and that the minibars produce a click from the clamping systems' spring plungers to indicate correct clamping and center height for the tip.
