Six grades from Kennametal Inc., Latrobe, Pa., are for contract manufacturers and job shops to perform turning, milling, and holemaking across a variety of workpiece materials. The company claims the KennaUniversal tooling improves cycle times, throughput, and efficiencies.

The grades, available direct from Kennametal or through local distributors, include KU10T, KU25T, and KU30T for general lathe applications including turning, boring, grooving, threading, and cutoff. For milling, grades KUC20M and KUC30M work with the KSSM face-milling platform where one insert style works in face, slotting, or helical cutters. For holemaking, grade KU40D is a solidcarbide insert that works well in spadeblade or indexable-insert drills.
