CNC Software offers a range of instruction tools for CNC programming, based on real examples. The offerings include online tutorials, videos, and documentation that allows machinists and engineers to learn at their own pace

CNC Software is among the longest-established developers of CAD/CAM software, and focuses its products on the applications needed most by job-shop users. With that objective, it offers a range of “learning tools” for its Mastercam® suite that allows machinists to expand their CNC expertise.

The Mastercam suite is a Windows®-based CAD/CAM software for 2- through 5-axis routing, milling and turning; 2- and 4-axis wire EDM; 2D and 3D design, surface, and solid modeling; and artistic relief cutting. It is formatted for Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7, and is compatible with all other CAD/CAM systems. According to CNC Software, it is in use at more than 150,000 operations for a range of manufacturing industries, in 75 countries.

The available learning tools include online tutorials, videos, and documentation that allows machinists and engineers to learn at their own pace. Among the options are:

Mastercam University, or MastercamU.com, is program of applications-based online video training that teaches “students” by designing and programming toolpaths with parts derived from real examples. The courseware includes over 180 videos that use proven industrial programming techniques, but allow trainees to learn at their own pace. All the courses are used to prepare the trainee for official Mastercam Certification.

CamInstructor allows trainees to access over 40 hours of lessons consisting of live demonstrations of Mastercam.

Streamingteacher® is a subscription-based delivery service for training materials, provided in the form of streaming audio/video that allows trainees to learn at their own pace, from any location.

Mastercam Training Solutions involves multimedia and text book training consisting of intuitive, industry-proven training exercises accompanied by MCX files. Trainees follow along with exercises and tutorial walkthroughs available back to Version 9, and there are more than 25 titles spanning four product lines, for all levels of complexity and learning styles.

Tips for Manufacturing is a series of training videos presented on CDs that allow the users to learn first by seeing, then by doing, as they follow the examples provided in the comprehensive tutorials. These programs were developed by a veteran machinist, CNC programmer, and instructor to teach logical procedures for approaching everyday programming problems, and to make it easy to review infrequently used processes.
