Follow-on order for valves and actuators to outfit two new power plants

Flowserve Corp. reports a new contract to supply a series of ASME Section III safety-related globe and gate valves and Flowserve Limitorque actuators to China’s State Nuclear Power Engineering Company Ltd. (SNPEC). The contract is valued over $15 million, according to the manufacturer of flow-control products.

SNPEC is a subsidiary of State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation Ltd., a state-owned utility holding company.

The valves and actuators will be used at two new nuclear power plants in Zhejiang and Shandong provinces. The valves will be manufactured at Flowserve's plant in Raleigh, N.C.; the actuators will be produced in Lynchburg, VA.

The Westinghouse-designed AP1000 Sanmen and Haiyang Unit 2 plants will be the first of those designs built in China. They are scheduled to be operational in June 2014 and January 2015, respectively. Flowserve has previous valve orders from Westinghouse in progress for the Sanmen and Haiyang Unit 1 plants.

"This order further strengthens our long-standing relationship with the Chinese nuclear power industry and with our customer, State Nuclear Power Engineering Company Ltd.," stated Flowserve president and CEO Mark Blinn. "We are proud to be a part of renewable energy production in China, which will reduce emissions and improve the environment."
