Flowserve Corp., a Dallas-based manufacturer and service provider for flow-control products reported news of two new contacts it has booked to supply global energy projects.
First, it looged three orders totaling more than $10 million from China Nuclear Power Engineering Co. Ltd. (CNPEC) to supply nuclear main steam isolation valves (MSIVs). These valves will be used at three nuclear reactor facilities in China: Yangjiang Units 3 and 4, Fangchenggang Units 1 and 2, and Ningde Units 3 and 4.
“Flowserve’s type CPR1000 units are scheduled to begin commercial operatio n between 2014 and 2016, each with a capacity of 1,000 MW. “China remains an important aspect of our global growth strategy and these orders demonstrate our continued leadership position in this market,” stated Tom Pajonas, president of Flowserve’s Flow Control Division.
“Flowserve MSIVs are specially designed, large gate valves with fast-acting, stored energy actuators. They are designed to be installed in a plant’s nuclear steam supply system, to close within 3 to 5 seconds in the event of a rupture in the steam piping. The valves will be manufactured by Flowserve in Raleigh, N.C., and are scheduled to be delivered in 2011 and 2012.
In a second, multi-million dollar order, Flowserve will manufacture and supply mainline crude oil pumps, mechanical seals and support systems, and upgrades to existing pump units for the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).
“CPC is a pipeline project in Russia that connects the oilfields in Western Kazakhstan with the new Marine Terminal in Russia. By 2014, CPC plans to expand pipeline capacity to 67 million tons per year by increasing the number of pump stations and upgrading existing units.
“Flowserve’s pumping systems will be designed to increase efficiency, cut energy consumption, and decrease costs. Previously, it supplied CPC through a long-term rotating equipment maintenance contract.
