Dresser-Rand Wins Contracts for Offshore Projects

$120-million in programs for FPSO vessels to serve Brazilian, North Sea fields

Dresser-Rand Group will deliver advanced turbomachinery for offshore oil drilling to three different clients, following recent contracts. It is supplying four floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) vessels. Three of these will serve the Petrobras' pre-salt oil fields off the coast of Brazil; the fourth will deploy to a British oilfield in the North Sea.

Dresser-Rand is one of the largest suppliers of rotating equipment to the world’s oil, gas, petrochemical, and process industries.

FPSO vessels are designed to receive oil (or gas) produced from nearby platforms or an undersea template, process it, and store it until it is offloaded onto a tanker or transported via a pipeline. The vessels that Dresser-Rand is providing will handle approximately 100,000-120,000 barrels per day, and will have gas-compression capabilities of up to 150 million scfd.

With a total value of $120 million, these projects will include 14 centrifugal compressor trains comprised of 18 casings; two mechanical drive gas turbines; and four gas turbine generator sets. Dresser-Rand said the FPSO vessels it is completing will include some of the highest density re-injection compressors ever built.

The compressor trains will be manufactured at Le Havre, France, and Olean, NY. The gas turbine generator sets will be engineered by Dresser-Rand's Kongsberg, Germay, gas turbine packaging center.
