Circor to Produce Landing Gear in New Multiyear Contract

$25-million, multiyear assignment from Sikorsky for Black Hawk helicopters

Circor Aerospace Products Group will produce landing gears for H-60 Black Hawk and Seahawk helicopters under a new multiyear contract from Sikorsky Aircraft, with an initial value of $25 million. Circor Aerospace designs and manufactures landing-gear systems for aerospace and defense applications. It also produces specialty fluid control and actuation systems. It has operations in California, Ohio, and New York, as well as in France, Morocco, and China.

The company said production, final assembly, and testing of the landing gear will be done at its Corona, Calif., plant.

Circor Aerospace indicated its landing gear systems are to be found on nearly every aircraft, military vessel, and space vehicle now in operation, and its acquisition of the Sylmar landing gear MRO business expands its presence into the commercial aerospace and aftermarket businesses.

Chairman and CEO Bill Higgins called the contract an example of Circor’s ability to win projects with long-term growth potential.

“Our investments in engineering and proprietary product development have resulted in a number of program wins for CIRCOR Aerospace,” Higgins stated. “We remain focused on making organic investments in sales, marketing, product development and manufacturing in order to capitalize on future opportunities across all three of our business segments.”

Sikorsky is a subsidiary of United Technologies. It manufactures the H-60 Black Hawk, the U.S. Army’s primary twin-turboshaft engine helicopter, used for air assault, air cavalry, and aeromedical evacuation units. It is designed to carry 11 combat-loaded, and air-assault troops. The Seahawk helicopter is a variation of the UH-60 Black Hawk craft used by the U.S. Navy for multiple tasks.

“The Circor Aerospace team is proud to be a key supplier to Sikorsky. We look forward to continuing to expand the partnership between Circor Aerospace and the Sikorsky companies,” stated Michael Dill, Circor Aerospace Products group vice president.
