Cutting the Coolant Cooling with an air/oil mist - minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) - or machining dry with no lubricant offers impressive economic and ecologic benefits; but, to be successful, the advantages and limitations of these techniques must be matched to the appropriate application and cutting requirements. Rotary Workholding Systems New rotary units deliver high-speed precision positioning. One unit is a gearless high-speed, high-torque model with precision positioning and repeatability. These features make it well suited for parts that require accurate angular positioning, as well as for high-speed, high-accuracy contouring applications. The manufacturer of another unit said its CNC rotary table performs with high accuracy with the fastest rotating and tilting speeds in the industry while providing high brake torque. System wear resistance, rigidity and rapid speeds are the result of its carbide worm system that results in up to an eight-times reduction in friction and wear when compared with a conventional bronze or bronze alloy actuation mechanism. Thread Cutting If you want to speed-up thread cutting on rod stock and bolts, check out this new single-piece high-speed steel die and die handle. Metalworking Fluids New metalworking fluids offer a safe, less-expensive alternative to straight oil machining and grinding systems. The fluids provide high lubricity, cooling and corrosion control capabilities. They are also designed to eliminate rancidity and dermatitis issues while promoting efficient and easy part cleaning.
