An optional subspindle and X-axis linear glass scales are available for the Elite 8/51 lathe. It sports a 2-in. capacity, 20C collet-ready spindle. The lathe's base weight has increased more than 1,000 lb with the addition of Harcrete polymer composite in strategically located base cavities.

According to the manufacturer, this adds stability and damping qualities. The Elite 8/51 also has an MT No. 3 tailstock on linear guideways.
