Vega Tool Corp.'s line of Hitachi end mills has a nano-crystal CS coating that reportedly improves lubricity without compromising hardness for good surface finishes and long life. In carbon-steel applications, Hitachi CS-coated ball-nose endmills last 3 3 longer than TiAlN-coated tooling. CS-coated tooling is well suited for materials ranging from mild steels to prehardened steels to 40 Rc in either wet or dry-cutting operations.
