Filter fibers absorb oil
02/01/2004

The Oil Separation Filter (O.S.F.) is an alternative to ultrafiltration for facilities that do not require instant removal of emulsified oils from fluids. It uses absorption to remove the oils, and the solution containing the oil runs through a filter of extremely fine absorbent fibers.

As the oil collects, the fibers become more oil absorbent.

The O.S.F. requires continual passes of the contaminated fluid to remove oil and should be used with an oil/water separator and a solids filter if there are free-floating oils and a large volume of particulate.
