An opening in the Spirit 4 OFS sinker EDM accommodates extra tall parts.

The AT Spirit 4 OFS (oil field special) from GF AgieCharmilles, a completely integrated die-sinking EDM system, accommodates workpieces typically considered too long for EDM. A special opening on the machine worktable allows tall parts with a maximum diameter of 9.84 in. to sit inside the machine’s dielectric tank. The opening can be self-contained in the machine or configured to go completely through the casting and a specially prepared foundation for extra long tube or pipe applications. This deep-tube configuration provides for machining internal or face details of extremely long shafts, while still being able to handle standard die-sinking EDM jobs.
