Anca saw the need for a flexible, automated tool resharpening system and developed its GX7 CNC tool and cutter grinder. The machine excels in one-off jobs and can sharpen batches of tools of different types and varied geometries, especially when equipped with the two options shown in its demonstration at EMO.

The first option is an automated, seven-position HSK wheel changer. The second option is a compact, 84-position GLX automated tool loader for unmanned operation. The GLX changes its quick-change collets automatically to handle a variety of tool shank diameters and to allow different tool geometries to be mixed in one batch. Only one collet is needed for each different tool diameter.

In other Anca news, the company announced that Jeroen Schmits is its new chief executive officer. Schmits is responsible to the company’s board of directors for all of the company’s global business operations.
